Let's stay in and fight with the team!

Just been searching through the 10% of the DUP European Union Manifesto they have dedicated to the actual European Union. What’s interesting is although there is almost compulsory "no to the Euro and the federal Europe", "yes to Lisbon Referendum" Euro-Scepticism, there is no mention whatsoever of the belief that we would, in fact, be Better Off Out. Bearing in mind 8 out of the 9 DUP MPs (including Mr Dodds) are members of the campaign to leave the European Union asap, it’s a surprising omission.

The 30,000 quid question is if they ever did get their way and the UK left the EU what would happen to Diane’s "international objectives" (i.e to "safeguard Israel’s future", "stop the persecution of Christians", "build improved relations with China and India" and most heartening of all, "to support efforts to reduce global poverty")? I really believe we are "better off in", fighting for our own national interest when necessary, fighting for the greater European and world good where appropriate.

Unlike Mrs Dodds, Jim Nicholson has the experience and thus slightly more realistic expectations of what can be achieved in Brussels and Strasbourg; over the last two days he has pledged a Charter for the West and also stressed that the EU must develop policies to tackle cyber-crime.

However the crucial difference between Jim and Diane and the possibility of them ever achieving their targets is that the former is going to be part of a team of 25 plus MEPS from all four corners of the United Kingdom. The latter is going to be part of a team of 1...despite her best intentions, global poverty may be with us for a while yet.

Actually the crucial difference between Dodds and Nicholson is (well there are two)

1) when elected she'll actually do something and not become the most anonymous person in Ulster between elections.

2) She wasn't selected to be the candidate as some consolation prize for getting beat by Seamus Mallon. You'd have thought 20 years sypathy would have been enough for that one.

You care to give us a prediction of how well (sic) Nicholson is likely to do? % of the vote perhaps or even what count he'll be elected on??

NO? thought not....

Patience CC, I'm just back from a very pleasant bicycling trip to be met with your woman's TV performances. Amazing stuff, coupled with the fact(which I mentioned above and you've conveniently ignored)that she'll be like the rest of the maverick regional parties sitting on her todd in brussels I'd be interested to hear you thgink she will achieve anything (never mind eg deliver security peace of Israel) in Brussels. Prediction number 1 Jim Allister to poll 50,000, the DUP to lose 25% share of their vote from the last EU elections. I think a bit of serious internicine DUP warfare post the results.

Jim N was 1/15 with Paddy Power last week to keep his seat- I think those odds were slightly on the miserly side. He'll keep the seat with more or less the same % of the vote as last time.

Final question, if, as is increasing likel,y Mrs Dodds doesn't deliver a big enough vote to get through on her own steam where exactly do you think she's going to get the transfers from?
