2 Cheque Eck has been spinning like mad sincelast week:
"First Minister Alex Salmond is to set up a charitable trust, funded by his MSPs salary. The trust is expected to generate about £18,000 a year until the next General Election, and will fund youth and community projects in the north-east."
As MP for Banff and Buchan, Mr Salmond receives £60,675, as well as a third of his £53,091 salary as MSP for Gordon.
All very charitable of him....I wonder if Dr Paisley will be likewise sacrificiing one of his salaries, setting up a similar trust?
So, anyway, moving on quickly from that question, 2 Cheques has come out of it all rather well, but the more important question remains:
How can anyone be expected to perform competently in three such exacting jobs as MSP, MP and First Minister?
For the sake of his constituents, he should be resigning one of his parliamentary jobs.
Oh, and before you become too concerned about the prospect of Alex hitting Skid Row, it should probably be pointed out that he’ll also be pulling a cool 77 grand as Scotland’s First Minister.
