The United States has formally acknowledged Scotland's national day for the first time with an official telegram.Nelson McCausland and others might have added an "Ulster" to those last two "Scottish-Americans"... but no matter, I'd still like to join Hillary in wishing any Scots (of whatever variety) reading a very St Andrews Day!
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent a message in which she 'congratulated' the people of Scotland on the occasion of St Andrew's Day.
In a statement on the US State Department's website, she cited the long history of cultural ties between the two nations, dating back to 'trail-blazing Scottish-Americans' such as John Paul Jones, Davy Crockett and Neil Armstrong.
