Quote of the day

I'm going to have to wait until getting my hands on a paper copy to read the full interview but in the meantime, this will do for starters:
One of the things that holds us (the Conservatives in Scotland) back is perceptions about the past, and a new Conservative government in Westminster that starts to get to grips with the deficit, that gets the economy growing, that backs our troops in Afghanistan, that governs the United Kingdom with respect, that is a different Conservative Party to the one that was in power in the 1980s and people can see that, and see that all of Salmond’s warnings were just politically motivated and taking people for fools, we will be in a different situation.
Cameron in The Herald, speaking before, hopefully, kicking some backsides at the Scottish Conservatives Conference in Friday.

ctually the best thing the Scottish Tories can do is ditch cameron and the English entirely and reconstitute themselves as a right of centre Scottish party. No-one in Scotland believes for a second at present that they ever will have Scotland's interests at heart. At the moment it is only the toffs, anglo's and unreconstructed orange bigots who vote for them. If they ever see above 20% again in their present attire Ah'm a bawbag.
