Not exactly gone to plan, has it?

Michael Shilliday in tonight's Belfast Telegraph has an impressively detailed analysis of the strategic mistake made by Peter Robinson and the DUP during and after the St Andrews' negotiations. Once again the lesson preached by Popper should have been taken on board; in this case, it's been proven that, despite what the DUP might have believed, no party has divine right to "rule" forever...

The only slight disagreement I'd have with Michael and other Unionists is with their dismay at the prospect of McGuinness becoming First Minister. For me it's a matter of profound indifference - the fact that we're being served by such a cack-handed system of democracy should be of much more relevance than who happens to be the titular head of that system.
