The SNP have been accused of "airbrushing" the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh from a photograph featuring a group of Nationalist politicians.
The picture, which appears in an SNP newsletter distributed in Falkirk, instead features William Wallace and Robert the Bruce in the background.
Among those present in the photograph are Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson and SNP councillors.
Stalin used to do something similar with inconvenient photographs.
Scottish Unionist has more.

Yeah, the Royals never do any airbrushing themselves... apart from their real German name and the fact that the Duke of Edinburgh's two brother-in-laws were Nazi SS Officers... Zeig Heil Mein Windsor Fuher !!
One reckons this to be a storm in a polo cup. The person who did it has played a blinder.
Tell me O'neill are you a monarchist? Do you really not find the whole idea objectionable?
A positive answer begs the question just why you are gettin yir knickers in a twist? Surely it is not something to do with Scots backing Scottish governance for the weel of Scotland that annoys ye so, surely not.
So...
the main problem here is the apparent divergence of opinion on the monarchy between the SNP Hierarchy and the er..."overly enthusiastic" grassroots. The SNP apparachnik has given the official line (she's the Queen of Scotland), so one would think there would be disclipinary action against the afore-mention "overly enthusiastic" republican. Or maybe the SNP hierarchy's allegiance to the monarch is simply a matter of hypocritical convenience?
Secondly and less important, the whole concept of airbrushing photos is all a bit tacky, if the overly-enthusiast really wanted Robert the Bruce and William Wallace in a photo then get some fellow overly enthusiasts down the fancy-dress shop.
My own allegiance is primarily to the UK state rather than the head of the state. So you couldn't really describe me as a monarchist, though I'm happy enough for the present system to continue.
Ah so you are at the very least a tacit monarchist, how ridiculous. The present state of affairs is an anachronism. The concrete ceiling on a member of my religion becoming head of state, or the glass one to becoming PM says it all. How can we be loyal citizens of a state that doesn't value us equally? Auld Lizzie and her mob are dinosaurs and an affrontary to democracy. Apart from that they don't bother me that much, pocket excepted.

Your depth of understanding is unbelievably naive here. I know loads of SNP members and supporters, not one wants to keep the monarchy. The SNP officially are neutral on the issue and are content to retain the constitutional status quo after independence. Don't bet on it lasting long though. the reasons for the official ambivalence are many and varied. The SNP supporting north east has also got strong ties with British regiments. I'd guess(not being from the area) that they are being weaned off the idea that having royal colonels-in-chief makes them special. Also change on the scale that the SNP advocate can be quite emotive, best to do it gradually.
There are several big issues to deal with post independence. Like, are the SNP too much to the centre? I envisage that the SNP could even split as at present we are all working together to achieve the important over-riding goal of Scotland re-asserting herself again.
Ps I don't believe that anyone in the SNP heirarchy are for the monarchy at all.
Just realised that you have this story labelled as 'bigotry'. have you honestly ever suffered from bigotry?
Anyone born and bred in Belfast who has hasn’t suffered bigotry at least once in their life is either very lucky or being walking around with their eyes and ears closed.
“Ah so you are at the very least a tacit monarchist, how ridiculous”
I am as tacit a monarchist as this bloke:)

If there is so much republican sentiment within the SNP, then why do they continue with what you define as a “neutral” policy (I don’t think you can have a neutral policy on the monarachy, you either want to retain it or you don’t)?
