The Northern Ireland result: Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!

Just in:

First Preference as follows:

SF - 126184 (26%)
DUP - 88346 (18.2%)
C&Us - 82893 (17.1%)
SDLP - 78489 (16.1%)
TUV - 66197 (13.6%)
Alliance - 26699 (5.5%)
Greens - 15764 (3.25%)

SF elected on first round.
Very credible performance by Nicholson.
Should do it, even possibly beating the DUP to being the next one elected.

Update1

APNI and Greens eliminated, their surplus is being distributed now. More importantly, I've just missed out on 60 quid by a whisker, 10 pound on Jim A 6/1 to pull in 50001-60,000!!!

Update 2

There is now a Conservative and Unionist MEP representing each region of the United Kingdom, a truly historic day for pan-UK Unionists. The rest of the count and distribution of votes took place without any consideration of the fact that I was back at the grindstone(!), but anyway great news.

A successful end to an occasionally tempestuous beginning, Forward and onward!

DUP down massively
UUP pretty much flat
TUV pull off a blinder

Would people care for side salad or chips with their dup ass on a plate?

If my maths are right, the SDLP and SF combined vote remains static (to within 0.1% or so).

Similarly the UUP/DUP total from 2004 is almost to a first decimal point the same as the TUV/DUP/C&U total.

Bearing in mind the massive downplaying of the Nicholson prospects both on online and in the media I think it is a very credible performance. A very good base to be working on for the future.
