MSPS have given themselves a paid day off to carry out last-minute campaigning for the European elections.
The Scottish Parliament will be closed on Thursday next week for the European election, even though there is no legal reason why it should be. The decision, which was made by all parties at a meeting of the parliament's business bureau, was condemned yesterday.
Mark Wallace, of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said: "There is no good reason why politicians should have a day off to vote. Everybody else has to fit voting around their work."
And never mind pondering on whether or not the SNP will be irrelevant in Europe, what relevance does this distraction:
Nationalist MSP Kenny Gibson has lodged a motion at Holyrood which says Scotland would have a stronger position in Europe if independent from the UK.
...have on the present day to day governance of Scotland?
Aren't there slightly more pressing problems to be worrying about?

Another gie's peace moment.
No-one can ensure that those preparing for release stay in open prisons, regardless of country and who is in power. Gray in name and grey in nature, the current Labour leader of London new labour made an erse ae himself on radio Scotland, answering an innocuous question regarding his time as justice minister. Apparently there were 40 odd escapes on his watch, and now 16 on kenny mcAskill's. Yet this silly wee man is calling for the SNP's man heid.

Also Luxembourg have the same representation as Scotland in Europe, Ireland with a smaller population have more than double our reps. Considering that some of our Euro Mp's also tow the London party line, it is a brave man who argues that Scotland has proper representation in Euroland.
