An outbreak of selective amnesia

Trouble in the big parliament yesterday:
Commons speaker Michael Martin has warned MPs to stop criticising the Scottish Government.

Mr Martin told members that prolonged criticism gave the impression that Holyrood was all MPs had to talk about.

His remarks came during Scottish Questions when MPs of all parties clashed over Scottish Government policies and the Scottish budget.

Mr Martin reminded MPs that Holyrood was a parliament set up by Westminster and given devolved powers.

Well, yes and it's a bit late for Labour to start complaining now about the inevitable results of their constitutional vandalism.
The SNP's Westminster leader Angus MacNeil said: "At a time of recession, it is disappointing that Labour MPs can't raise their level of debate and find more constructive contributions to make.

"Jim Murphy and Labour need to end their obsession with the SNP. The people of Scotland would rather see them following the SNP's responsible example than being envious and bitter."

And "bitter" is something we could never accuse the SNP of being, right?

Whilst flicking channels last night I actually caught part of Scottish questions, and it was highly embarressing. Murphy hardly touched on any questions from even his own side, the robotic attacks on Edinburgh and the SNP were quite funny. Also other MP's joined in the fun. To what ends?

Aren't you being a bit silly in posting that article under "bitter" But then as a Unionist, awkward constitutional questions that highlight deeply irregularities would not be your strong point. The voting records have gone missing, an expected victory for the SNP ended in comfortable victory for Labour. is there not an issue to look at there?

There is indeed. If they've gone missing, then the man with ultimate ministerial responsibility in Scotland should take the blame...and that man is?

Gordon "Billy Britain" Brown! Lol, I take it that you are unaware Westminster is responsible for elections.

Why would wee Eck responsible anyway? They were held by the forces of the crown when they went missing............, now with their record of skulldugery the scene is certainly set. Don't you agree?

Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court lost the list of people who voted...so...
who is the minister ultimately responsible for the Scottish Courts Service?

Mr Kenny MacAskill!

BTW, on a general point, the fact that political parties are allowed to know which of the electorate voted and who didn't is something which should also be ringing alarm bells- for everyone.

It is essential information. If participation in our democracy is seen as important little can be done to tackle the problem if you don't know who isn't participating.

Agreed FD, but as Oneil is alluding to..............in the wrong hands and all that. Talking of wrong hands, kirkaldy sherrif court is indeed part of the Scottish courts. Although the Crown under which it gains it's authority is the ultimate arbitor of justice. Since you were the one who mentioned ministerial responsibility, and under Westminster's authority that elections are held. Surely Billy britain is yer man;¬)

The latitude for conspiracy theories are wide and varied here as you all must agree. The outsider won in increasingly suss circumstances.
