The strange tale of the Scottish Tories and the missing "Unionist"

Is Cochrane onto something here?
By the way, they appear to have changed their name. I had always thought they were the Scottish Conservative AND Unionist Party but in all official communications yesterday the 'Unionist' bit had been dropped. Pity. I had assumed that the preservation of the United Kingdom was what the Scottish Tories were about.

Have they changed their minds? Mr Crow's first task should be to tell us the answer to that one.

(Crow being the Scottish Tories' new Director of Strategy and Communications...ie spin doctor.)

Curious state of affairs (dropping the "Unionist") if true, particularly with ongoing developments at the other end of the North Channel.

I have long believed that the Tories are idealy placed to take advantage of a downturn in Labour support in Scotland. Not all will go to the SNP. A genuine right of centre party is needed, but not one whose obvious slavish devotion is to the interests of another country.

Sensible move.
