Sorry, we don't do "reflection"...

Is this the most pointless article yet on the UUP/Tories link-up?

The core sentence around which it focuses:
Last night Lady Hermon declined to comment on the matter.

Which is an understandable (but not very newsworthy) policy for several reasons:
“As you will appreciate, in light of Sir Jack’s recent death, she will now need to take time to reflect on the executive decision,” a spokesman for the MP said.

Whilst freedom of choice and being permitted to follow your conscience (as opposed to the line mapped out by the party apparatchiks) is an alien concept to many within Ulster, Lady Hermon is made of sterner stuff than the various intellectual pygmies and lapdogs that tend to populate the N.Irish political and journalistic spheres.

At some stage, obviously, she will give an answer and whatever that answer will be, I suspect, given her normal modus operandi, it will be delivered in a calm and dignified manner- again, two adjectives not normally associated with politics here.

A different topic, but how tasteless is this take on Steve Davis' Mum dying? Wooo Rangers' stars to visit Northern Ireland! How exciting!

How bad is the standard of journalism in NI?

Bad.

My own opinion is that for the size of the place there are too many pundits/polemicists chasing too few stories and trying to manufacture unique opinions out of this air (Garland's latest which you destroyed is a case in point).
