Quote of the day

From David Cameron's speech to the Conservative Conference:
I am deeply patriotic about this country and believe we have both a remarkable history and an incredible future. I believe in the Union of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and I will never do anything to put it at risk.

Not true.

By denying the English the same rights as the other citizens of the UK he is conniving with Gordon Brown's nationalist division.

I even got the chance to put that view on camera as I was stopped and asked what I thought of the speech as I left the Conference. Unfortunately, I don't think it was used, which is a shame.

I was manning the CEP stall. One of the points I was making to people was that Gordon Brown's insistence on the English being "British" was actually poisoning the "Britishness" brand.

I am a Yorkshireman and proud of my County. Those I was speaking to were just as proud of their own counties.

The crucial point being that it is possible to be proud of your county and proud of your country.

By not allowing the English to be English, Gordon Brown is just destroying the sense of being both English AND British whilst simultaneously ensuring that the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish, rather than being not English, are instead not British.
