Normal service will resume...

Just a quick post to confirm that I am still in the land of the living and haven't actually drowned in Lake Bled or dropped down a crevice in the Julian Alps (although both felt quite enticing prospects about 10.30 Saturday night). The bad thing about holidays research projects in that at some stage, you do have to come back and sort out your backlog and Emails. Back soon.

I was beginning to get worried for a minute! :-)

I look forward to your comments on A-H (just come back from my holiday around the place on Saturday!). Look forward to the debate!

(I take some credit for arousing your interest in the state)

By the way what beer did you prefer - Lasko or Union? I prefer Lasko's Zlatorog although I was pushed to find any cold bottles in the monopoly supermarket chain Mercrator (for those who complain about Tesco-towns you cannot imagine how Mercrator dominates the scene - they even own hotels!)

Passed by both breweries on my travels.

On the Ljub to Prague leg I stopped off at Vienna and bought two cans of Schwachat lager (the remanants of the Dreher Empire in Austria). Too bitter for me.

However the train to Prague from Wien had a bar selling draft Pilsner at Euro 1.20 for 0.4 litres. Very pleasant and reasonable.

I've 101 ideas and its proving very hard to get them into a comprehensible post...MS ONeill would also claim a wee bit of credit for my interest in C.Europe and the balkans:)

Regarding the beer, definitely the Union for me, although I drank an absolutely foul-tasting black beer from them also.

That was confusing for a moment. One of my best friends is called M.S. O'Neill - I presume you intended the horrible contraction "Ms O'Neill" for your other half?

Yes! I need to be careful as she's very hot on the gender-specific honorifics (I think that's the current PC catchphrase);)
