Three cheers for the red, grey and blue.

From the Angrytown News:
A Boots store in Belfast city centre has asked its staff not to wear a union jack-style promotional t-shirts after complaints from a West Belfast shopper.

The West Belfast man made his complaint after seeing a member of staff wearing the t-shirt at the firm's flagship Donegall Place store.

"To be fair, it was blue and grey, there was no red on it, but it was still basically a union jack.

My emphasis.
Probably should warn these boys that they’re no longer welcome at Sinn Fein’s next Euro Ethno-Nationalist soiree , after all their flag is also basically a Union Jack isn't it?

Another triumph of Republican pettiness. A West Belfast shopper? I'm sure that's a typo for 'shop lifter'.

Btw O'Neill did you realise that you're 36th best 'right wing' blog in Britain?

Ever since the Europa Hotels and Hastings Group - when I complained to Howard Hastings about (who responded sarcastically) - ceased flying the Union Jack from its premises many years ago, I've given up complaining about the virtual commercial ban on the flying of the Union Flag in NI.
They're scared stiff of so many authorities here: equality, human rights, even the Courts and litigation; scared stiff of offending the anti-British brigade.
It seems that the only place you can be sure of flying the Flag is in the comfort of your own home! :-)

And your blog, although I'm sure there's a "Concerned of West Belfast" working on that as we speak!

Strangely enough, I don't seem to have an excessive amount of fans from there. :-)

How come? I think it's more amusing that stunts like this (and eg the painting of post-boxes) now appears to be the main part of the RM's strategy for achieving a UI!!

I suppose it was the comparison with the Basque flag that I thought was petty. Eedjits like yer man should be told to go and get a life. I don't for a second believe he represents Republicanism or Nationalism, just a petty half-wit.

The saltire in the Basque Flag actually also represents St Andrew, so there is a link with the UJ. Whether he represents Republicanism or not, his gripe was printed in the Andies Town news which is basically SF's Belfast Pravda;any other self-respecting editor would have laughed the story out of the office; instead here we are 2 days later still laughing...
