Digging round for a quotation, two jumped out; this one was reputably his last words on his death bed:
“Oh, my country! how I love my country."
...not one which will be repeated by our present PM, I suspect, when he finally calls it a day.
The last part of the second one may, just possibly, be familar to those who have studied Dr Paisley’s rhetorical outpourings over the years:
“You cannot conquer America. If I were an American, as I am an Englishman, while a foreign troop was landed in my country, I would never lay down my arms-never, never, NAVARR!”
