After the debate, Finance Minister Mr Robinson said: "We operate in a mandatory coalition, as a result of the (Good Friday Agreement) structures negotiated by the UUP and SDLP. The principle of coalition government is that there is collective decision making. Therefore the Programme for Government must be agreed by all parties as the basis for government. If all governing parties cannot agree the Programme for Government there will be no government."
It is no surprise that both the DUP and Sinn Fein, parties which follow the Uncle Joe Stalin interpretation of democracy, should be most discomforted when faced with all that troublesome debate and discussion.
The UUP and the SDLP should know their place, shut up and sign on the doted line.
Or leave the damned "coalition" and form a real opposition to the DUP/SFs' "Government of Sectarian Carve-Up"...and if as a consequence, the whole shambles at Stormont collapses around their ears, then so much the better for the long-term prospects of Northern Ireland.
Update (from the DUP Press Office)
Know what, I think the Dupes are panicking, no less than 5 anti-UUP news releases in the last two days...the UUP pull out of the "mandatory" coalition, then the Dupes are left to explain to the Red-Necked Duped why they alone are in coalition with the Sinners....ho! ho!
Go for it Reg!
Another unintentional piece of comedy is Sammy Wilson’s broadside against Jim Allister:
"Unionism has no desire for Allister-ilk politics which offers nothing but negativity. Allister-speak is not simply anti DUP, but seems to be anti practically everything"
The irony!
