An Ethical Scottish Foreign Policy?

If Salmond wants to set himself up as not only as the "Scottish Nation's" leader, but also an international statesman, then he should be judged by exactly the same standards that other international statesmen are judged and pulled up, when necessary, for the hypocrisy he accuses others of.

For example, when he says...

"[Human rights] is an abiding concern that we raise at every opportunity," he said. "However, I do not think anyone would seriously suggest we should not develop cultural, economic and trade links with the People's Republic of China."

...it would be interesting to know how exactly he raised those "concerns" and how much attention the Chinese regime paid to him when he did so.

Footnote:

Scottish exports to China were approximately £156 million in 2006.

According to Amnesty, at least 1010 people were executed and 2,790 sentenced to death in China in 2006.
