So as Labour's Rhodri Morgan and Plaid Cymru's Ieuan Wyn Jones prepare for government, it's worth asking: will anyone notice?
So asks Lee Waters in today’s Comment is Free.
The answer is probably "no, they won’t" and that fact probably also applies to a large proportion of the Welsh population if his next piece of information is to be believed:
The total number of viewers for BBC's Wales Today, ITV's Wales Tonight and S4C's Newyddion combined amounts to less than 400,000.
The circulation of the five highest-selling Welsh based newspapers (South Wales Evening Post, South Wales Echo, Western Mail, Daily Post and the South Wales Argus - in that order) adds up to less than 250,000.
Even allowing for a generous margin of error, two-thirds of the people living in Wales don't consume Welsh daily news. And it's getting worse.
And....so what?
I’m not sure what Waters is really getting at here, people should be forced to watch local telly and read local rags in order to keep informed of the antics of Morgan and Co?
People in Wales are obviously now more interested looking at the bigger picture and are no longer interested in the parochial news media reporting the parish-pump politics of the Welsh Assembly; widening their horizons in other words,- why is that such a problem?
