"I have brought Sammy (Douglas) to meetings with US politicians and he has ensured I was on the guest list for games at the Oval. Together, we’ve successfully won joint funding for major art projects, his in the East, mine, presently going up, in the Gaeltacht Quarter celebrating the Irish language. Now we’re pushing the boat out further and applying for joint funding from City Hall for a media centre on the Falls for Gaeilgeoirí and community premises in East Belfast. Those may be small steps forward but they tower over the TUV’s dismal record of promoting working-class communities in unionist or nationalist areas of Belfast."
