The Shinners certainly aren't going to relish the sight of thousands of Irish citizens happily lining the streets in greeting -- and when you put it like that, anything which makes Gerry Adams unhappy has to be a good thing. Besides, since the IMF and the Germans rolled into town, who could blame us for deciding that, if we do have to be ruled by foreigners for the foreseeable future, it might as well be ones who speak the same language.Ho-di-ho... although I think she's ever so slightly over-egging the pudding with that "thousands of Irish citizens happily lining the streets". I suspect it'll be more of a minor grumble about struggling to find a parking place on the day and a "She's looking well on it, how old did you say she was again?" apathy. And that apathy will gut the Shinners and their nuttier companions on the bitter green far right even deeper.

I have always found it interesting that the indo columists speaks about 'us' and 'we'.
Yet in all seriousness, Eilis' views are not apparentedly shared by even one percent of the Republic's population.
Yet, I am puzzled, does she realise this ...? Does she and collegues actually see Unionism catching on in the south?
