Continuing the musical theme, The Anthem4England site is running a poll on possible English anthems; the choices:
Jerusalem
Land of Hope and Glory
God Save the Queen
I Vow to Thee My Country
A newly commissioned anthem
As anyone who has had the misfortune to have their ears assailled by "Ireland's Call" will testify, England supporters should be very cautious about opting for that last choice- if you're not careful you'll end up with a lounge version of "All things bright and beautiful" by Coldplay if your P.C. Guardians have their way.
With Northern Ireland's match against Poland on Saturday approaching, this question of which anthem our team stands to is also a debate which has been ongoing for some time now. My own feeling is that within a shortish period of time our team will be running out to something a bit more regional-specific...but please, please God, let it be anything, anything at all, other than "Londonderry Air".
