The figures for political donations over the past three months, published by the Electoral Commission, also showed that the Conservatives are easily outstripping Labour as the two parties build up their coffers to fight the next general election.
The Tories took in donations totalling £5,138,850 between October and December, Labour £2,621,952 and the Liberal Democrats £960,898. The SNP received £70,000, including a bequeathment of £18,000, from Christine Reid.
That SNP figure appears staggeringly low in comparison to the three "big" parties, especially when taking into consideration that just one other donation, from Angus Tulloch, amounted to nearly £50,000. Time for Alex to get on the Skype to a certain actor in the Bahamas...
