Quote of the Day

Of course, Scottish nationalism thinks it's above all that and its leaders, to be sure, are a fully civilised lot. But they play fast and loose with the falsehood that our problem is the English, that we're somehow being "done down" by the working people of Liverpool, Coventry or Hackney.

That this is not true would only be discovered after we'd made the border a partition, and nobody knows the consequences of that.

Great to... er...ermm...ah...yes, well...,yes, truly great to have you on board, George.

George has always been anti-nationalist. It's one reason why he never became a member or supporter of the SSP or Solidarity in Scotland as it had a pro-independence agenda, despite Galloway's admiration for Tommy Sheridan as a politician. The alphabet soup of left wing politics and its relationship with nationalism in Scotland warrants a postgraduate thesis - with some of those that signed up for the SSP and Solidarity from various left wing organisations not realising how central independence was to their party's political ambiitions.
