Brown is a dead-man walking, at the minute our biggest liability.
A complete incompetent as a leader, Salmond and the forces of Scottish separatism cannot be defeated with him at the helm. He’s got to go, although I don’t think we’ll have to wait too long on that one to be honest.
All changed, now Brown is officially Flash Gordon Saviour of the (Financial) Universe, a man whose talents we’ve all clearly underestimated...or which have been hidden very deeply...or a man who has now, rather perversely, struck lucky with his very own version of Maggie’s Falklands. It’s the latter of course and someday, hopefully sooner than later, we will be back to "business as usual" rather than worrying about where our next food parcel is going to come from and when that time comes, then a sudden realisation will hit us once again:
Brown is the biggest liability the Union presently has.
His pathetic AWOL performance when the Nats were in the ascendency for most of the last 6 months should not be forgotten; his lack of backbone in backing up Alexander in her attempt to call the Nats' bluff re the referendum should not be forgotten; his and his team’s complete incompetence in defending brand UK in the face of the separatist onslaught should not be forgotten. The man was and remains our biggest liability and whilst a SNP victory at next week’s by-election will obviously bring the Nats back out of their hiding-places again, blinking in the daylight; for a good ole gloat and to conduct a premature requem for the Union, ultimately it will be worth it for the longterm sake of the United Kingdom.
Brown has been tested and found wanting at those very times when strong leadership was most needed and a "fortuitous" financial crisis here or there doesn’t change that fact- in the face of enemy fire he has been found wanting (or missing) far too often.
