You can stick your Olympics football right up your short ar...

Really????
The vital importance of football to the London Olympics was spelled out by Colin Moynihan when he said: 'The impact of a British team on the public and their support of the Games will be enormous.

'We would also expect that team to be a strong medal contender and thereby generate tremendous excitement throughout the country. We must have a team in these Games and we will have a team.'

Hands up who gives a fig about who wins this year's Olympic Football tournament.
Thought so.
Hands up who cares if the UK has a team in the London Olympics Football tournament.
Thought so.

(And am I right in thinking that Moynihan was that little fascist midget who used to be a football-fan detesting Sports Minster many moons ago?)

Well it's not about who wins exactly, but I hope Holland and Argentina go out sharply to return Javier Mescherano and Ryan Babel to their rightful employers.

Were Alex and John Mason also passing an opinion on a British Olympic football team?

wyrdtimes,

It looks like in this case it'll actually be "England in disguise" as opposed to a real UK team. I can't imagine that many fans being motivated one way or the other about the team, whatever its composition.

Yep, it'll be full of English, coached by an Englishman (no, it won't be Fergie). Do the English FA really want to do it even?

Didn't someone once say that politcs and sport should never mix?
