Unionists against 42 Days (Part 2)

Our democracy has taken a pretty bad hammering over the last few months, so it’s good to see the Lords coming to the rescue:
The House of Lords has launched an almost universal attack on the government's 42-day detention plans in its first day of reading in the second chamber.

Good and what is especially welcome, from my point of view, is that three Unionist peers; Lord Laird, Lord Maginnis and Lord Rogan will be voting against the legislation. Despite the usual crew of ethno-nationalist collectivists being completely perplexed at this display of voting along conscience as opposed to communal lines, the peers have shown a commendable understanding of what British democracy and liberty is all about. And it looks like they and David Davis are in tune with a majority of the UK public.

Yeah it is good that some of the Ulster Unionists lords have come to sense and will reject this ridiculous proposal. Also I would like to thank Lord Laird for agreeing to speak on the issue for Belfast Young Unionists.

Omriston,

It would be great if you could give us a summary of Lord Laird's speech to the BYU- either as a comment or to me direct via E mail.
