Nationalists label devolution as grim and impervious to reason.

Another day, another petition:
We, Welsh people from all over the world, give notice that we will not accept any attempt by a British Government to stage any further "investiture" of a "Prince of Wales". Such a move would be inconsistent with the inexorable progress of Devolution and the manifest destiny of the Welsh nation as a free and sovereign people.

“inexorable”, I’ve just checked in an online dictionary:

".grim: not to be placated or appeased or moved by entreaty; "grim determination"; "grim necessity"; "Russia's final hour, it seemed, approached ...

.adamant: impervious to pleas, persuasion, requests, reason; "he is adamant in his refusal to change his mind"; "Cynthia was inexorable; she would have none of him"- W.Churchill; "an intransigent conservative opposed to every liberal tendency"

Quite appropriate description of the Devolution (capital D) Experiment(capital E) then really.
