The Tories point out that since the SNP won power last May, he has taken part in four of 149 Westminster votes.
Over the last twelve months however, the figures are slightly more impressive:
·Has spoken in 15 debates in the last year — below average amongst MPs.
·Has received answers to 17 written questions in the last year — average amongst MPs.
·Replied within 2 or 3 weeks to a very high number of messages sent via WriteToThem.com during 2006, according to constituents.
·Has voted in 22% of votes in parliament — well below average amongst MPs. (From Public Whip)
Note SNP MPs do not vote on legislation not affecting Scotland.
In fairness, Alex, being a self-confessed separatist, can be forgiven for ignoring the House of Commons. This is also an intention he hasn't tried to from his constituents and if they still decide to elect him as MP, well then, that’s their lookout.
Dr Paisley, the "Democratic" "Unionist" MP for North Antrim, on the other hand....
.Has spoken in 10 debates in the last year — well below average amongst MPs.
·Has received answers to 0 written questions in the last year — well below average amongst MPs.
·Replied within 2 or 3 weeks to a low number of messages sent via WriteToThem.com during 2006, according to constituents.
·Has voted in 29% of votes in parliament — well below average amongst MPs. (From Public Whip)
...and has no excuse for likewise treating the UK's sovereign parliament and his constituents with such contempt
