A row erupted in Limavady today as it emerged that a specially-convened committee is to propose getting rid of "contentious" symbols from council-maintained buildings.
Among items in the firing line is said to be a statue of William Ferguson Massey, the Limavady-born Prime Minister of New Zealand from 1912 to 1925, which stands outside council HQ in Connell Street.
A statue of a locally-born Prime-Minister of New Zealand, my, my, how offensive..
Is it 'cos he is Brit? (With apologies to Ali G)
Update:
This morning's Daily Telegraph has more.
Other offensive items for the purge include a Royal Wedding mug and a British Legion certificate.
