David Simpson: Mr 40% still wants the 100% Vote.

DUP Member of Parliament for Upper Bann, David Simpson, is not happy with Malcomn Rifkind's proposal for an English "Grand Committee":

I was elected to serve as a member of the Parliament of the United Kingdom at Westminster. To be elected to such a position is an honour and a privilege enjoyed only by another 645 people in the entirety of the United Kingdom. Whilst it is true to say that we are each elected to represent the interests of our individual constituencies, we are also elected as a body corporate to make decisions concerning the entirety of the United Kingdom.

Bearing this in mind I was bemused to learn of proposals, unveiled by Malcolm Rifkind – himself formerly a representative of a Scottish constituency, to disenfranchise non-English Members of Parliament from matters of “purely English” consideration.

Which would all sound a lot more convincing if Mr Simpson's own attendance record at the parliament of the United Kingdom wasn't (like the rest of the DUPes) so dire....

According to "Do They Work For You" Mr Simpson:

1.Has spoken in 12 debates in the last year — below average amongst MPs.
2.Has voted in 40% of votes in parliament — well below average amongst MPs.

Not a very good record for someone so committed to "the Parliament of the United Kingdom at Westminster".

Possibly if he concentrated his focus on there, rather than Craigavon Council and the Northern Ireland Assembly, we'd see David playing a bigger role in the "body corporate" which is making decisions concerning "the entirety of the United Kingdom".
Presently the only person "disenfranchising" Mr Simpson is himself.
