Good man that Paxman....
....is open to the idea of a "tartan Six", or other regionalised bulletins, but only if Scotland's two million licence fee-payers foot the bill.
He says: "I've no problem with an entirely Scottish broadcasting system that would be financed by a Scottish licence fee."
Sounds fair enough and I also loved his putdown of Scotland's "President-in Waiting", Sir Sean Connery.
Paxman was unmoved when it was suggested to him in an interview that actor Sir Sean Connery might make a suitable (Scottish) president. "He'd be an ornament, I suppose," the broadcaster said, but claimed such a move would be "naturally divisive".
Ha-di-Ha! An "ornament"? More a pot, that's ever so slightly cracked!
