No United Great Britain for the Olympics?

Kingdoms disunited over British Olympic football team

My first instinctive reaction when reading this headline was "Why can’t we have a Great Britain Olympic Football Team?"; after all, it’s not an important tournament in the big scheme of footballing things and if the British Lions can manage it in rugby, why not give it a try in football as well?

But reading on, it’s clear that the high-handed and rather arrogant attitude of the English FA, alongside fears that a "Team Great Britain" may threaten the independence of the other three associations, will prevent it from becoming a reality for the 2012 London Olympics. Pity.
