How Many Bureaucrats Does it Take To Change a Stormont Lightbulb?

Back from our holidays, nose back to the grindstone....

CALLS for an investigation into the "over-staffing" of the Office of First and Deputy First Minister have been made after it emerged that it employs around twice as many people as Downing Street.

The hard figures?

United Kingdom population: 60 million
Northern Ireland population: 1.7 million
Staff employed by Number 10 Downing Street: 200
Staff employed by the "Office of First and Deputy First Minister" at Stormont: 415

A statement by Mr Paisley and Mr McGuinness said:

"It is important to recognise that, as the responsibilities of OFMDFM extend beyond those of the other offices mentioned, a comparison of the numbers of staff is not appropriate."....

...because it would make us look very bad.
