Things politically seem to be warming up nicely in Wales...
A MAJOR political battle is looming in Wales between devolutionists and “separatists”, according to a senior Labour backbencher at the National Assembly.
Huw Lewis said he welcomed the likely decision of Plaid Cymru to launch its own Commission into what independence for Wales would mean.
The Western Mail revealed yesterday that despite the party’s new role in government, Plaid’s national executive is likely to authorise detailed research into the implications of setting up an independent Welsh state.
Unionists should welcome such Commissions; there's absolutely nothing to be feared from independent cost and benefits analysis of *independence* and indeed, it should be tied in with a full referendum on the question directly after its findings.
And I wonder when Northern Ireland's own separatists will get round to giving us an objective breakdown of the costs of breaking away from the rest of the United Kingdom?
What exactly are they afraid of?
